CSA Orientation and Tour for New Members.

Henry takes new CSA members on a tour of the farm and an orientation to the Henry's Farm CSA each spring.

New CSA Member Orientation & Tour

Returning Members are Welcome, too!

We look forward to welcoming you, your family, and your fellow CSA members to Henry’s Farm on Saturday, May 10! Henry will take you down to our beautiful bottomland to tour the newly verdant fields that your vegetables come from. Then we’ll sit down together in the packing shed for an orientation into how the CSA pick-up works. And of course we will answer your questions about the CSA, organic farming, the vegetables we grow, climate change, and anything else!

We serve drinks and snacks, during the orientation, and new members are required to attend. Click below to go to the Doodle page where you can sign up for the most convenient time — either 10am to noon, or 11am to 1pm — on Saturday, May 10. (If by chance neither time works, please contact us to set up another time.)

For both the 10am and 11am start times, please come directly to our home, 432 Grimm Road, Congerville, IL 61729 Click here for a map and excellent directions.

Please be on time, or better yet, come early!

We are on a tight schedule and can't wait around for latecomers. If you are late for the 10am time slot, you'll have to walk down to the field and catch up with the tour. If you are late for the 11am start time, you'll miss some of the orientation. So plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early!

Returning Members are also welcome!

We especially encourage you to attend if you joined in 2020 (when we cancelled the event due to Covid), or in 2024 (when we cancelled due to my tractor accident). Please come for either the 10-11am tour, or the 12-1pm tour. You do not need to participate in the orientation portion of the event, which runs from 11am to noon.

Everyone . . .

Dress appropriately!

The event will take place rain or shine, heat or cold. Right now it looks like a warm, partly sunny day, but bring more layers than you think you need. The tour of the field will last about an hour and if it's breezy, even 70 degrees and sunny can be downright chilly without a jacket.

The field could be a little damp and muddy, so think about footwear, too.

Refreshments will be served!

My wife Hiroko will make a snack to eat during the orientation portion of the event in our packing shed. I'm not sure what she will be making yet, but I guarantee it will have our produce in it, and it will be good!

We will have juice and water, too.

I look forward to meeting and talking with you, showing you the fields where your food will be coming from this season, explaining how the CSA works, and fielding your questions.
