CSA #25 (11/11/2025)

As the temperatures fall and we approach the end of the CSA season, it’s time to thank you for being a member of Henry’s CSA.

And to remind you that tomorrow is the next-to-last CSA, so you only have one more week to renew your CSA at the same price as last year.
→ If you DO want to renew, but haven’t done so yet, please click the first button below.
→ If you are NOT renewing, please click the second button so we know how many slots to open for new members. Thank you!

It’s also time to get ready for Henry’s annual bulk ordering opportunity that allows you to stock up and eat Henry’s delicious and nutritious vegetables over the holidays and into next year.

Keep your eye on your in-box for an email in about a week that will give you the link to the brand new ordering pages on his site. You will be able to order Henry’s amazing popcorn pictured above, freshly stone-milled cornmeal, potatoes, sweet potatoes, garlic, leeks, Napa cabbage and other greens, as well as a bumper crop of winter carrots, radishes, beets, turnips, parsnips, rutabaga, and much more. Stay tuned!

And finally, the deadline for ordering Teresa’s Herb Teas, Jams, Jellies, Applesauce, and other goodies is midnight tonight (Monday)! Do it now and she’ll have them ready for you at your regular CSA pick-up tomorrow.

Henry rescued a lot of beautiful greens before the hard freeze last night. They will keep for a long time in your refrigerator. Or you can just bring a big pan of salted water to a boil, blanch the greens for a few minutes, and then put them in your freezer to use weeks or months from now.

In Your CSA This Week

  • Bok Choi

  • Tatsoi - good in soups and stir-fries, or boiled or sauteed, or raw in salads

  • Komatsuna - also known as Henry’s Favorite Stir-Fry Green

  • Choice of: Collards or Italian Kale or Green Curly Kale

  • Lettuce —the last lettuce of the season is always the best lettuce of the season. It’s sweet, crisp, and sturdy — able to keep well for weeks in your refrigerator.

  • Japanese Turnips - great raw or cooked.

  • Bell Peppers — Easy to freeze, or try the “Stuffed Pepper Soup” below

  • Carrots - We dug up SO MANY carrots over the past few days — crunchy and sweet!. You’ll get the smaller ones tomorrow, but if you place a bulk order, you’ll get larger ones that will keep well for months.

That’s not Mrs. Takayasu, but an Evanston market customer very happy with Henry’s daikon!

Stuffed Pepper Soup!

Thanks to Carol Gilmore, Bloomington/Normal CSA member, for this recipe!
